Unwind in untouched nature at Vök Baths
Vök Baths is a geothermal destination on the beautiful Lake Urriðavatn in East Iceland. Located only 5-kilometres northwest of Egilsstaðir, the largest settlement in the East, Vök Baths is an essential stop on any visit to this part of the country.
Vök Baths harnesses the geothermal power of the region to create a unique bathing experience with amazing views of the rest of the lake and the surrounding area. Fully immerse yourself in Iceland’s unique and untouched landscape and become one with nature at the country’s first series of geothermal floating pools.
An Icelandic hot spring destination like no other, the hot water is so pure, it’s certified as drinkable. Compared to the rest of the country, there are relatively few hot springs in East Iceland making Vök Baths an attraction you won’t want to miss!
Our floating pools have been designed to imitate the natural occurring phenomena of Vök so that guests can fully immerse themselves in the unspoiled beauty of the area. Additionally, there are two on-shore hot pools, an outdoor pool bar as well as a steam bath and cold tunnel equipped with a mist shower inside.
There are indoor changing facilities equipped with private showers and lockers. It is possible to rent swimsuits and towels; simply ask at reception should you require a rental.
We have just opened and are still putting final touches to our facilities.
In the near future we will add glass partitions to the showers so each shower will be private, finish the steamroom, cold misty shower along with other small works that will improve the site for our guests.
We kindly apologize for any inconvenience this can cause.
Tea Bar & Soups & Bistro
Get a taste for East Iceland and and eat a locally produced meal at our adjoining Soups & Bistro. The menu changes depending on what’s seasonally available and great care is given to ensure our practices are environmentally sustainable.
Fully embrace the geothermal power of Iceland at our Tea bar and sample our selection of tisanes (teas) made from locally sourced herbs and brewed with hot spring water from the lake.
There is also a pool bar so you can enjoy a refreshment while soaking in crystal clear waters surrounded by the unique Icelandic nature.
Conveniently located just off of the Ring Road, Vök Baths is only 500 metres from the Route 1 road that encircles Iceland. So, whether you’re road tripping around the country or simply exploring the East, there’s no better spot to take a break from the road to soak in the awe-inspiring nature of Iceland.
